3 men dead in Kent after unrelated shooting and vehicle crash, police say

Kent police detectives are investigating a homicide and a vehicle crash that killed three men between the two unrelated incidents.

KENT, Wash. — A 25-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning at a Kent apartment complex, according to the Kent Police Department.

Officers, medics and firefighters responded around 3:59 a.m. to the Chandlers Bay Apartments in the 8700 block of South 235th Place after reports of a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Responding officers found the victim in a parking lot and began lifesaving measures until medics arrived. The man died at the scene.

Kent police detectives are investigating the homicide. The suspect has not been identified, though investigators said initial information suggests the shooting was an isolated incident.

Fatal crash in Kent kills 2

In a separate, unrelated incident, two men died after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and caught fire in the 21800 block of 68th Avenue South around 1 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Officers found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames after it struck an electric pole. Once the fire was extinguished, responders discovered two men, ages 38 and 44, dead inside the vehicle.

Witnesses told investigators the vehicle was traveling southbound and may have sideswiped another vehicle before the crash.

The Kent Police Traffic Unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kent Police tip line.
