“A true victim”: 16-year-old shot and killed in Pierce County

Law enforcement asked anyone in a 3 mile radius to provide information.

TACOMA, Wash. — Pierce County Sheriffs deputies responded to reports of a seriously wounded person in the 10200 block of S Sheridan Avenue in Parkland around 7:13 p.m. Sunday.

The victim, a 16-year-old boy, suffered a gunshot injury. Medical responders performed CPR, but he died at the scene.

According to Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto, the boy was walking with his girlfriend, also 16-years-old, when a vehicle drove up and surprised them. The occupant robbed the boy of some jewelry and then shot him, Cappetto said.

“We have multiple suspects outstanding, which is very concerning,” Cappetto told KING 5. “We are asking the community not to approach vehicles that they don’t know of.”

Cappetto also asked community members in a three mile radius of the incident to provide any footage or surveillance information they may have related to the incident.

“This was a true victim tonight,” Cappetto said.
