
News of her diagnosis comes as Bondi is set to join an advisory committee focused on AI policy.
WASHINGTON — Former Attorney General Pam Bondi shared that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer following her departure from the Trump administration.
Bondi, who confirmed her diagnosis with CNN on Wednesdaysaid she is undergoing treatment and had surgery a few weeks ago. According to CNN, she is recovering and “doing well.”
Bondi was replaced by Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, following Bondi’s firing from the Justice Department over the handling of the Epstein files.
Earlier on Wednesday, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller’s wife, Katie Millerseemingly confirmed reports of Bondi’s cancer diagnosis by posting a message of support on social media says Bondi has been beating cancer the last few weeks.
Axios, which was the first to report the news of Bondi’s diagnosis, reported Wednesday that President Donald Trump has appointed Bondi to an advisory committee focused on AI policy.
The president had praised her tenure while announcing her departure from the DOJ on Truth Social in April, adding that Bondi would transition to a “much-needed and important new job in the private sector.”
The advisory appointment was announced late Tuesday night by David Sacks, a venture capitalist who co-chairs the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, in a post on X.
“Winning the AI race means not only beating China but also clearing bureaucratic hurdles thrown up by state legislatures and woke politicians in D.C. No one is better positioned to support PCAST in this mission and to advise the president on legal and regulatory barriers than Pam Bondi,” Sacks wrote. “Excited to have her on board!”
